The organisation of the 2008 Triathlon European Championship by the Portuguese Triathlon Federation FTP), is currently the great challenge that we are willing to win. It will be the first time that the Portuguese Triathlon Federation approaches a big organisation as Local Organising Committee. The success of 2007 Lisbon World Cup, which took place exactly in the same place, makes us believe that we are worthy of the trust of the European Triathlon Union and the triathlon world community itself. We will do everything in our power to meet the expectations of those who have trusted us. All our efforts and commitment will be in the sense of offering the participating athletes, their families and their supporting staff a memorable 2008 Triathlon European Championship.
GREETING MESSAGE
I greet and welcome all athletes and officers coming to the Lisbon European Triathlon Championships.
This event is a high moment for triathlon in Portugal, gives prestige to sport and is a strong stimulus to develop triathlon. We will continue creating conditions and making investments to develop triathlon and we are confident that this event will greatly contribute for that purpose. I hope the European Championships will contribute to strengthen the sport relationships between our countries and wish that you enjoy the important cultural and patrimonial resources Portugal has to offer.
I thank the European Triathlon Union, the Portuguese Triathlon Federation and all persons and entities who have been involved in this event, wishing the best success to all of them.
